More confidence speaking
Extra one-to-one conversation, pronunciation and vocabulary practice alongside school Spanish — especially useful for pupils who understand more than they feel able to say.
Patient, practical Spanish tuition with Celia — a native speaker from Honduras and an experienced teacher. For children, teenagers and adults who want more confidence actually using Spanish.
Beginners are welcome. Celia has good working English and can explain in English where helpful.
Lessons are shaped around the person in front of Celia — their confidence, interests and what they actually want to be able to do in Spanish.
Extra one-to-one conversation, pronunciation and vocabulary practice alongside school Spanish — especially useful for pupils who understand more than they feel able to say.
Practical Spanish at a manageable pace, with English explanation where useful. No expectation that you already know enough Spanish to understand a Spanish-only lesson.
Conversation for travel, family, everyday situations or simply enjoyment — with enough structure to keep moving and enough space to become comfortable speaking.
Choose the length that suits the learner. A shorter session can work especially well for conversation practice or younger pupils; a full hour gives more room for structured tuition and sustained speaking.
Online lessons are available widely. Face-to-face lessons in the Cotswolds are by arrangement.
For school pupils, adults and beginners who want a full one-to-one lesson with time for conversation, explanation and practice.
Ideal for focused speaking practice, pronunciation, confidence-building or younger learners who benefit from a shorter session.
Celia is from Honduras and Spanish is her first language. She taught for around 20 years, working with children and young people in primary and secondary education. At times she worked in rural schools where she was the only teacher and took responsibility for the day-to-day running of the school as well as teaching.
After moving to the UK, she took a career break to raise her family while remaining involved in community and school-related voluntary work. She is now returning to teaching in a flexible, one-to-one form.
“It is completely normal to make mistakes while learning a language. The important thing is to feel comfortable enough to try.”
No elaborate programme is required before you begin. A first conversation is enough to understand where the learner is and what would help.
Who the lessons are for, current level, and what you would most like to improve.
Conversation, pronunciation, school speaking practice, beginner Spanish or a mixture — shaped around the learner.
Regular one-to-one speaking gives learners something a busy classroom often cannot: time to try, make mistakes and try again.
Yes. Celia has good working English and can explain in English where helpful. The aim is to increase the amount of Spanish gradually, rather than assume a beginner can already follow everything in Spanish.
Yes — particularly with speaking confidence, conversation, pronunciation and practical language alongside the pupil’s normal school teaching. Celia does not present herself as a UK exam-board specialist.
Celia is a native speaker from Honduras. She teaches Spanish clearly and can also help learners understand that vocabulary and everyday usage vary naturally across the Spanish-speaking world.
Her primary and secondary teaching qualifications were gained in Honduras, where she taught for around 20 years. She does not hold UK Qualified Teacher Status, so she offers private tuition and conversation support rather than presenting herself as a UK-qualified school teacher.
Both are possible. Online lessons are available more widely; local face-to-face lessons in the Cotswolds can be arranged depending on location and timing.
Send a short note saying who the lessons are for, roughly where they are starting from, and what they would most like help with. Celia can then suggest a sensible first step.
